Let’s just sit with that title for a second. Take it in. Read it again. The hard truth about choices we don't want to make. That hits, right? Now think about it: What was your first thought when you read it? How did it make you feel? Maybe it felt like a punch in the gut or a sigh of relief. Either way, if you’re here reading this, then something about it resonated with you. Maybe it triggered something deep, something you’ve been avoiding. Maybe you know someone who’s stuck in this cycle or, if we’re being real, you’re the one caught up in it.
I see you, and I hear you.
There’s this thing we all do, this thing where we tell ourselves we’re living our best life. It’s all over social media, right? But here’s the kicker: So many of us aren’t actually living our best life. We’re living a version of our life that we show to the world because, well, that’s what we’ve been told to do. But what about the people who are stuck in a life that doesn’t bring them joy, fulfillment, or peace? The ones who are living a lie because they’re too scared to take a leap, too scared to face the truth that something’s gotta change. What if you could run away from everything, no judgment, no financial worries, no opinions of others holding you back. What would you change? What would you walk away from?
It’s a tough question, right?
We tell ourselves stories all the time. The stories our ego loves to feed us. These stories make us think we have to stay where we are, even if it doesn’t feel good. We tell ourselves, “I have no choice,” “This is just the way it is,” “I can’t leave now, too much is on the line.” But if you really listen to what your soul is telling you, deep down, you’ll know those stories are nothing but a distraction. They’re the lies we tell ourselves to stay comfortable, to stay stuck in the safety of the familiar. The truth? You don’t have to stay in a life that doesn’t make you happy.
You don’t have to keep living the story that’s holding you back.
I know it’s easier said than done. Change is terrifying. It means stepping into the unknown, facing your fears, and getting uncomfortable. But here’s the thing: You have the power to rewrite your story. You have the choice to make a new one, even if it feels messy or impossible right now.
Change isn’t easy. If it were, everyone would be living their best life. But the people who take the leap, the ones who decide that their peace is worth more than staying in a bad situation, they’re the ones who know that the discomfort of change is nothing compared to the discomfort of living a life they don’t want.
So, what’s holding you back? Fear? Doubt? The stories you’ve been telling yourself? It’s time to face them head-on. Whatever it is that’s making you feel like you can’t change, I’m here to tell you…IT’S ALL IN YOUR HEAD. You can choose something different. You can choose to step into the life you’ve been longing for.
You just have to make that first step.
It’s going to be hard, and you’re going to feel like giving up at times, but on the other side of that struggle is the life you’re meant to live, the life that makes your heart light up, the life that feels real and true.
So, my friend, if you’re stuck in a life that doesn’t feel like yours, if you’re telling yourself stories that are keeping you small, I’m here to remind you that you don’t have to stay there. You are allowed to make a change. You are allowed to choose your happiness, even if it feels like a risk.
You don’t have to live someone else’s version of your life. Live your own and make it one that truly makes you happy.
Here’s a challenge for you: Take a moment and sit in silence. Close your eyes, breathe, and ask yourself: Am I truly happy? Take a deep breath and let your heart answer. What do you want to change? What has your soul been trying to tell you all along? Listen closely. Your heart never lies.
You already know what needs to shift. You just need to trust yourself enough to make it happen.
You got this!
Rooting for your growth,
Jamie Lynn
